Ornamental Features:
Perfecto Mundo Double White Azalea is bathed in stunning clusters of double white trumpet-shaped flowers at the ends of the branches from mid spring to mid fall, emerging from distinctive creamy white flower buds. It has attractive dark green evergreen foliage which emerges light green in spring. The glossy oval leaves are highly ornamental and remain dark green throughout the winter.
Landscape Attributes:
Perfecto Mundo Double White Azalea is an open multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a more or less rounded form. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to set it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage.
This is a relatively low maintenance shrub and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers. It has no significant negative characteristics.
Perfecto Mundo Double White Azalea is recommended for the following landscape applications:
- Accent
- Mass Planting
- General Garden Use
Planting & Growing:
Perfecto Mundo Double White Azalea will grow to be about 3 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 4 feet. When grown in masses or used as a bedding plant, individual plants should be spaced approximately 3 feet apart. It has a low canopy. It grows at a slow rate and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more.
This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. Keep it away from hot, dry locations that receive direct afternoon sun or reflected sunlight, such as against the south side of a white wall. It requires evenly moist, well-drained soil for optimal growth but will not tolerate standing water. To achieve best flowering performance, apply a flower-boosting fertilizer periodically from early spring through the active growing season. It is very particular about soil conditions and must have rich, acidic soil to ensure success. It is subject to chlorosis in alkaline soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution and benefits from being planted in a sheltered location. Apply a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to protect plants in exposed locations or colder microclimates. This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid.
