Description:
A medium-sized shrub covered with vivid scarlet flowers in spring. This profuse bloomer is thornless and does not produce fruit, making it a single-season showstopper that adds bold color early in the landscape. Prune as needed to maintain shape.

The flowers are excellent for cutting. It has green deciduous foliage that emerges red in spring, and the glossy oval leaves do not develop notable fall color.

This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations and performs well under average home landscape conditions. It is not particular about soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This is a selected variety of a species not originally native to North America.
