Description:
A vigorous late-blooming perennial featuring bright golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers with contrasting dark centers; its dense green foliage forms a sturdy mound and provides excellent garden interest before the flowers emerge. Summer Sunshine is especially valuable for extending color and supporting pollinators late in the growing season.

Ornamental Features:
Summer Sunshine Tickseed produces masses of bright yellow daisy-like flowers with dark centers from late summer into fall. The blooms can continue for approximately six weeks, providing a colorful display when many other perennials have finished flowering. Its attractive green foliage forms a dense, sturdy mound throughout the growing season.

Landscape Attributes:
Summer Sunshine Tickseed is an upright herbaceous perennial with a dense, mounded habit. It spreads gradually to form a substantial clump and is valued for its vigorous growth, strong garden performance, and resistance to disease.

This is a relatively low maintenance plant and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. It is an excellent choice for attracting butterflies, bees, and other pollinators and is generally resistant to browsing by deer.

Summer Sunshine Tickseed is recommended for the following landscape applications:
- Mass Planting
- Border Planting
- Pollinator Gardens
- Native Plant Gardens
- Rain Gardens
- General Garden Use
- Container Planting

Planting & Growing:
Summer Sunshine Tickseed will grow to be about 3 to 4 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 to 4 feet. It develops a dense, sturdy mound and spreads gradually over time. As an herbaceous perennial, this plant will die back to the crown each winter and regrow from the base each spring. Be careful not to disturb the crown in late winter when it may not be readily seen.

This plant performs best in full sunlight and prefers average to moist, well-drained soil. It is more tolerant of consistently moist conditions than many other Coreopsis varieties and can tolerate wet roots for extended periods once established. It is adaptable to a variety of garden soils and performs well in areas with heat and humidity.

Summer Sunshine Tickseed is an excellent choice for perennial borders, mass plantings, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It can also be grown in outdoor pots and containers. Note that plants grown in containers may require more frequent watering than those planted directly in the landscape.
