Limelight Prime Hydrangea
Hydrangea paniculata 'SMNHPPH'

Height: 6 feet
Spread: 5 feet
Sunlight: Full sun / Partial shade / Full shade
Hardiness Zone: 3a

Description:
An improved next-generation form of Limelight, this outstanding shrub produces enormous, dense upright flower heads that begin soft lime green and mature to vivid pink and red tones. It blooms earlier than the original, creating a longer season of interest and making a stunning border accent.

Ornamental Features:
Limelight Prime Hydrangea features bold conical lime green flowers with white overtones at the ends of the branches from early summer through late fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It has green deciduous foliage, and the pointy leaves do not develop notable fall color.

Landscape Attributes:
Limelight Prime Hydrangea is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively coarse texture helps it stand apart from plants with finer foliage.

This shrub requires occasional maintenance and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. It has no significant negative characteristics.

Limelight Prime Hydrangea is recommended for the following landscape applications:
- Accent
- Mass Planting
- General Garden Use

Planting & Growing:
Limelight Prime Hydrangea will grow to be about 6 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 5 feet. It tends to be slightly leggy, with a typical clearance of 2 feet from the ground, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a medium rate and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more.

This shrub performs well in full sun, partial shade, and even full shade. It prefers average to moist growing conditions and should not be allowed to dry out. It is not particular about soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and performs well in inner city environments. Applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter helps protect it in exposed locations or colder microclimates. This is a selected variety of a species not originally native to North America.
