Ivy does best in bright, indirect light. Variegated varieties may need more light to maintain vibrant variegation. Allow top 2" of soil to dry out before watering. Make sure soil has excellent drainage. Fertilize once a month, spring through fall, with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer.
